Skat Fail!

I know for all the higher intellect worship leader types that frequent this blog, this seems like..ah..so what.

But for me..subscribing to CCLI'Songselect program was a life changer.
Demo below..

http://www.ccli.com/CCLI_Services/SongSelectDemo/Index.cfm?c=us

My time is limited and I can go to this place and find chord sheets, lead sheets..and with the level we have chosen even choir sheets for most of the music I want to do. (This can help because we occasionally do combined services with the traditional service and choir can participate on contemporary peices and add harmonies etc.)

Big time saver there..

The magical part is the ease that I can change keys.. just click on a drop down box and I can get a song I want to do in a key that is singable by me or my team when I can't get to the highs of Tomlin or Millard. OR...I can print several different keys out and have people capo to different places for a little cooler sound. OR..I can just print one in the key it is sung in for e-guitar/bass and use a different key (with capo) to put it in a more playable key..I'm no guitar vurtuoso (I'm a hack at best) and sometimes I have to cheat out of B's and F#'s but don't want to change the key or transpose it in my head...that really can cause some train wrecks..but then..be sure and remember to move that capo!!

Probably no big deal to most..of satan to some.. but good stuff as far as I'm concerned.

Planning Center Online.

www.planningcenteronline.com

This has been a great tool for us. It's an online, software as a service, worship planning system. I use this to plan 3 worship services each week from top to bottom, songs, videos, announcements, sermons, etc. All of our song data is stored in a database that's easy to pull from and assists with CCLI reporting when that time comes around, as it recently did for us.

I also schedule my worship and tech team volunteers through the system and it sends them emails to notify them and allow them to accept or decline the schedule.

Also, it enables collaboration between myself and the teaching pastor for the service as they can enter info about sermons, video illustrations, etc. And we can each see what the other is doing.

There are several other features but these are the key ones. All in all this has been a time saver and a great way to get everyone to stick to service plans and times. Well worth the meager monthly fee.
